It is a number one fair in Asia, food and beverages, exclusively for professionals, with approximately 60% of all foreign exhibitors and more than 12% of visitors from outside Japan. It has a history of more than 40 editions in a country that is considered as the gateway to the Asian market and where the trends and fashions of food and drinks in Asia begin.
Japan imports 60% of the food it consumes, has low self-sufficiency in food. According to figures of imports from the Ministry of Finance of Japan, the food imported by that country in 2015 reached almost 58,000 million dollars. For this reason, Japan looks with great interest to the countries of America and within them to Uruguay as food suppliers.
