Presidential visit to Japan, November 3 to 6, 2015

 The Official Visit of the President of Uruguay, Dr. Tabaré Vázquez to Japan from November 3 to 6, culminated with a positive result.
As a specific review, it is noteworthy that our House accompanied this visit represented by the President of the Institution, Cr. Raúl Palacios, integrating the Official Committee to have been specially invited to participate.
The President of the Republic and his delegation developed an intense agenda with the highest authorities, Emperor Akihito, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, personalities from the public, academic, scientific and entrepreneurial sectors.

At the World Bank headquarters in Tokyo, the business seminar «Building Bridges Japan – Uruguay» was held with the presence of authorities and business representatives from both countries.
Participants were Foreign Ministers Rodolfo Nin Novoa and Economics and Finance Danilo Astori, the latter presenting in his presentation on the economy the favorable climate for business and foreign investment in Uruguay.
On the part of Japan, Mr. Akihiko Kato presented his company, Shimadzu Latin America, as a notable example of one of the Japanese firms installed in Uruguay and Zonamerica since 2013.

Also participating were Yasusuke Tsukagoshi (Special Representative for Japan of the World Bank), Ichiro Oishi (Representative for Asia of the Inter-American Development Bank), Ec. Isidoro Hodara (Vice-President of Zonamerica) and the new representative of the World Bank. Matilde Bordón.

The Delegation of Entrepreneurs held previously coordinated meetings with their peers in Japan.
The Chamber, through its President, held meetings with different authorities with whom the Institution has a long-standing relationship, such as members of its counterparts, the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Foreign Trade Development Agency Of Japan (JETRO), former Ambassadors of Japan in Uruguay and leaders of important Japanese companies.
The visit of President Vázquez, accompanied by his delegation and an important delegation of businessmen, is of the utmost importance to continue imparting force to the processes that have been developed for many years in the matter of agreements between both countries as well as helping to eliminate obstacles In business and at the same time to deepen them as it is especially in the case of the possibilities of future placement of Uruguayan meat in Japan.
In terms of trade and investment, national authorities will continue to work to deepen the investment agreement reached, businessmen will continue to seek to increase their contacts and business, as the Chamber will continue to support to help concrete them.
