The last two and three days of December were the visit to Uruguay of a delegation of thirty-two people, belonging to a score of companies of various types, which carried out activities in Montevideo.
On Monday, December 2, in the morning at the Sheraton Hotel, a Forum was held which was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emb. Luis Almagro, the Ambassador of Japan in Uruguay, Mr. Kazuaki Obe and the President of the Uruguayan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Raúl Palacios.
The Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining, Roberto Kreimerman, General Manager of Uruguay XXI, Mr. Roberto Bennett, who provided visitors to Japan with a clear picture of the economic situation in Uruguay, Matter of energy, infrastructure, possibilities and advantages offered by our country to foreign investors.
Also present was Mr. Toshio Awatsuji, President of Bonset Latin America S.A., a company established in Uruguay since 2005, currently manufacturing and exporting HSF, heat-shrinkable film for use in packaging and labeling. Mr. Awatsuji presented his company, history, characteristics, process of activities fulfilled in Uruguay, the reasons for his installation in this country, future plans, his favorable opinion and advice for other companies of Japan to be established also in Uruguay.
On day 3, Takata Uruguay SA was visited. In its plant of San José and to Zonamérica as well as Eastern Coast, Ricoh Latin America Distribution Center and Despegar.com.
This mission with commercial interest driven by JETRO, which also visited Brazil, was well impressed with the advantages that to do business offers Uruguay.
The Chamber attended the visitors in all activities, cooperating with JETRO and the Japanese Embassy.
