Visit to Uruguay of the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe

On December 2, 2018, the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, made his official visit to Uruguay, the first of such an authority in our country. He met with President Tabaré Vázquez and national authorities.

According to official versions, he expressed his willingness to work to strengthen the bilateral relationship, very pleased to have helped open the Japanese market to Uruguayan meat. He considers Uruguay an important partner with whom similar values are shared.

Prime Minister Abe was decorated with the medal of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay. In addition, an agreement was signed lifting restrictions on Uruguayan beef access to the Japanese market.

President Vázquez offered a lunch in honor of the visitors at the Presidential Residence of Suárez y Reyes, where the Uruguayan-Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry was represented by its President, Cr. Raúl Palacios.
