It was held on June 27, 2017, to celebrate the «Agreement for the Liberalization, Promotion and Protection of Investments between Japan and Uruguay,» which came into force a few weeks ago.
Foreign Minister Rodolfo Nin Novoa was present, highlighting the importance of the Agreement reached and of the event, the sustained bilateral exchange between the two countries, the growth of investments, the importance of the future opening of the market Japanese to the Uruguayan meats and the promising prospects that open for the future.
Ms. Japanese Ambassador Keiko Tanaka made a few words, who have worked for a better relationship between the two countries. Under her performance as ambassador in Uruguay, the agreement was signed and entered into force.
The trade between the two countries has been increasing, but even more, the investments, which about twenty years ago were limited to a single Japanese company installed in the country. Today there are about twenty, a figure that began to increase during the first decade of the year 2000.
An important investment was recently made with the purchase of Breeders & Packers Uruguay by the Japanese company NH Foods. For that reason, very firm hopes are expressed about the near opening of the Japanese market to Uruguayan meats.

Due to the breadth of the topics discussed, it has been a very appropriate event to celebrate the Investment Agreement and also an excellent opportunity to convey the possibilities of business growth between the two countries.
